It's a recession when your neighbor loses his job; it's a depression when you lose yours. -- Harry S Truman, in Observer, April 13, 1958

Hi John,
It's been a long time since we have chatted. Your quote resonated with me after I read a column in the morning edition of the Chicago Tribune where the writer was excoriating companies, job websites (e.g. Monster.com), and employment agencies who are discriminating against the unemployed by indicating that only employed workers will be considered for job opportunities. That is a real depression. I find the current work climate in America deplorable. Between the outsourcing, off-shoring, and restructuring to cut costs, boost profits, and stash cash, many American corporations are single-handedly ruining our economy.
